About HGCF : About Harold Grinspoon and Diane Troderman
Biography of Harold Grinspoon

Harold Grinspoon is the founder of Aspen Square Management, Inc., a national real estate company based in West Springfield, Massachusetts.

Harold Grinspoon is active in many national and local organizations and charities. He has served on the Board of the National Multi-Housing Council and the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. Through the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation (HGCF), he promotes quality education and entrepreneurship in Western Massachusetts.

Harold and his wife, Diane Troderman launched their first major HGCF initiative in the 1990s with the “I Have A Dream” program in Springfield, MA., which evolved to become HGCF’s Lumins Program. It supports underprivileged inner-city youth in education, encourages them to aspire to college education, and provides incentives to help them pay for college expenses.  HGCF also created the Excellence in Teaching Awards for the communities in the Pioneer Valley as an expression of his commitment to quality education. This commitment is also expressed in the support of the entrepreneur programs in the high schools of the Greater Springfield area and at the colleges in the Valley and at the University of Massachusetts.  HGCF is also involved in The Imagination Library Program, which encourage early literacy among inner school children.

Recognizing the need for those in the developed world to extend a hand to under-developed regions, HGCF has also become involved in educational and health projects in Cambodia.

Harold Grinspoon and Diane Troderman are also deeply involved in the Jewish world through the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF). Harold Grinspoon’s entrepreneurial spirit has led to fruitful cross-fertilization of ideas and programs between the two foundations -- HGCF and HGF. For example, The Imagination Library Program (started by Western country singer Dolly Parton), which HGCF sponsors for inner city children in Springfield, inspired a Jewish reading program, The PJ Library, which HGF has spread to Jewish communities across the country. Another example: HGF’s teachers awards for Jewish educators inspired HGCF’s creation of The Pioneer Excellence in Teaching Awards, which honors hundreds of teachers in public and private schools throughout the region.

Harold Grinspoon and Diane Troderman are avid travelers and hikers.
