Schools in Cambodia
In September 2004 HGCF sponsored five schools for 200 children living in small squatter communities on the outskirts of the Capital City of Phnom Penh. The goal of the program is to enable young children ages six - ten to have the opportunity to attend school for the first time and learn in Khmer and English.
In September 2005 an additional 200 children have been sponsored bringing the total commitment to 400 children in five schools. School sessions are for two hours with 30 - 40 students in each class. HGCF also supports 50 orphans who live with Buddist monks in "outback regions", a distance from Phnom Penh. HGCF Funds purchase rice for the orphans so they have the opportunity to go to school rather than focus on basic nurishment for themselves and others.
