Welcome to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was created and launched in 1996 for preschoolers in Sevier County, Tennessee to encourage children to love to read. In 2004, the HGCF launched the Imagination Library Program in Springfield, MA which places books directly in the hands of preschoolers ages 0 - 5. Children are registered at preschools and Early Childhood Centers in the city with the goals of encouraging parents to read to their children. Books are sent directly from the Penguin Publishing Company to the child. All young registrants receive a first book and a book box when the child is registered encouraging children and their families to have a special place to keep their books. The goal and vision is for all preschoolers in Springfield to be ready for kindergarten with reading readiness skills and the love of reading.
Presently the program is in partnership with the Springfield READ program sponsored by the Davis Foundation. Partners with HGCF include the Community Foundation and private funders. The Foundation is currently seeking additional partners for this valuable program placing quality books directly in the hands of "little ones" in their homes.
