The Imagination Library Program created and launched by HGCF in Dec 2004 places books directly in the hands of preschoolers ages 0 - 5. Children are registered at preschools in Springfield with the goals of placing childrens' books in the homes and encouraging parents to read to their children. 

Books are sent directly from the Penguin Publishing Company to the child. All young registrants receive a book box with the desire to encourage children and their families to have a special place to keep their books.  The goal and vision is for all preschoolers in Springfield to be ready for kindergarten with reading readiness skills and the desire to learn to read.
