Monster.com Founder to Headline November 2nd Conference
SPRINGFIELD – UMASS graduate Jeff Taylor, founder of Monster.com and, more recently Eons, Inc. will be a keynote speaker for the Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference- Making It Happen to be held onNovember 2 at the Mass Mutual Center from 8:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organized by the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation, this conference is held annually to encourage young entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into businesses. More than 375 undergraduate and graduate students from 13 area colleges are expected at the event, which will include breakout sessions such as: How to Create a Compelling Business Plan, Ten Paths to More Successful Entrepreneurship, Marketing Yourself & Your Business, and Entrepreneurs on the Move, featuring a panel of successful local entrepreneurs who are former Grinspoon Spirit Award recipients. Last year’s conference attracted 300 students.

The admission fee is $125 which includes a continental breakfast, admission to all exhibits and workshops, lunch and validated parking. Students who attend one of the institutions participating in the HGCF Entrepreneurship Initiative receive full scholarships, but they must register with their school advisors in advance.
Taylor, the luncheon keynote speaker, left Monster.com in 2005 and recently founded Eons, a company dedicated to “lovin’ life on the flip side of 50”. Also headlining the conference will be Susan Kornacki, co-founder of Emotional Intelligence Skills Group. Kornacki is a past winner of the Grinspoon Spirit Award and will be the morning keynote speaker at 8:45a.m.
The mission of The Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Initiative is to encourage young people to innovate and to turn their innovation and creativity into businesses that will ultimately create economic opportunity and growth in the Pioneer Valley.
The Entrepreneurship Conference is open to all students who attend institutions participating in the HGCF Entrepreneurship Initiative, including: American International College, Bay Path College, Elms College, Greenfield Community College, Hampshire College, Holyoke Community College, Mt. Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Springfield Technical Community College, University of Massachusetts, Western New England College and Westfield State College.
