Rene C. Heavlow is the assistant director for Women and Financial Independence:
The Smith College Program in Financial Education. In addition to organizing the programming and overseeing the day to day operations of the program, Ms. Heavlow has led numerous workshops focused on achieving fiscal fitness for college and high school students. An employee of Smith College for eight years, she is also a part-time student enrolled in the Ada Comstock Scholars program for non-traditional age students at Smith. She will receive her bachelor of arts degree in African-American studies and ethics in May. Prior to relocating to the Pioneer Valley from New York City a decade ago, Ms. Heavlow was an independently contracted information technology consultant who helped legal secretaries make the transition from a DOS-driven software platform to a Windows environment.
